Robert Stropp has been advising and defending private and public sector unions for over 45 years. Prior to joining the Firm in 1996, Mr. Stropp served as General Counsel of the United Mine Workers of America from 1989 to 1996; as Of Counsel at Nakamura & Quinn (formerly Stropp and Nakamura); as a Founding Partner at Stropp and Nakamura from 1984 to 1989; as a Partner at Mitch and Crawford from 1980 to 1984; and as an Associate at Mitch and Crawford from 1975 to 1980. Mr. Stropp authored "Walk-Around Rights for Miners' Representative under MSHA: A Compatible Statutory Scheme," published in the West Virginia Law Review.

Mr. Stropp is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State and D.C. Bar Associations and their Labor and Employment Sections, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the AFL-CIO Union Lawyers Alliance, the NLRB Advisory Panel, and the Industrial Relations Research Association. Mr. Stropp was selected as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

Mr. Stropp earned his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1975 and his B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1969.
