Robert Stropp served as General Counsel of the United Mine Workers of America from 1989 to 1996. Prior, Mr. Stropp was Of Counsel at Nakamura & Quinn (formerly Stropp and Nakamura), 1996-present; a Founding Partner at Stropp and Nakamura, 1984-1989, a Partner at Mitch and Crawford, 1980-1984, and an Associate at Mitch and Crawford, 1975-1980. Mr. Stropp authored "Walk-Around Rights for Miners' Representative under MSHA: A Compatible Statutory Scheme," published in the West Virginia Law Review.

Mr. Stropp is a member of the American Bar Association, the Alabama State and D.C. Bar Associations and their Labor and Employment Sections, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the NLRB Advisory Panel, and the Industrial Relations Research Association. Mr. Stropp was selected as a Fellow in the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers.

Mr. Stropp earned his J.D. from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama in 1975 and his B.A. from the University of Maryland in 1969.
